In Step 1 (Learn) you and your colleagues addressed cultural differences by reading and reflecting on the content on Contrasting Cultures.

Now in Step 2 (Discuss) you and your colleagues will gain a deeper understanding of the differences by engaging in three conversations.

First Conversation

Specific to the selected topic, reflect on the content on Contrasting Cultures. Then identify those differences which are exerting the most influence on your collaboration. Focus on what is not working. Share those differences with your colleagues from the same-culture. They will do the same with you. And your colleagues from the other-culture will do the same on their side.

Second Conversation

Reflect on the differences submitted by your same-culture colleagues. Then meet as same-culture group. Discuss the influence of those differences on collaboration. Decide which cultural differences should be discussed with your colleagues from the other-culture. Then share those differences with them. They will do the same with you.

Third Conversation

Reflect on the differences submitted by your colleagues from the other-culture. Then meet as both-cultures group. Discuss the cultural differences and their influence on your collaboration. The goal is to gain deeper understanding of each other. This is the basis for Step 3 – Apply.
